Can I use private health insurance?

Yes, if you have podiatry cover as part of your health insurance.

We use Hicaps to process your rebate and you will only pay the gap. All health funds provide different rebates, please check with your fund if you are unsure of your rebate.

Is podiatry covered by Medicare?

Medicare does not cover consultations at Fitzroy Foot and Ankle Clinic.

However, if you have a chronic medical condition your GP can allocate you Medicare funded visits (Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) program) to see a podiatrist. The maximum number of visits per year is 5.

Are Medicare funded podiatry visits bulk billed?

In order for Fitzroy Foot and Ankle Clinic to provide a high-quality podiatry service we charge all fees at the time of the consultation. If you have Medicare funded visits to see a podiatrist, a rebate of $58.30 is then provided at the time of the consultation.

For some patients (e.g. those with a Health Care Card, pensioners etc.) we may be able to bulk bill your visit with us.

Do you see NDIS participants?

Yes, we are happy to see participants of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) if you are self managed or plan managed. We currently don’t manage patients who are agency (NDIA) managed.

Do I need a referral to see a podiatrist?

No, you do not need a referral to see a podiatrist at Fitzroy Foot and Ankle Clinic.

However, if you have a Medicare funded visit (EPC) to see a podiatrist, you will need to bring a copy of the referral with you if you have it.
